Experts agree that feeling healthier, happier and more prosperous will actually lead to a physical life of improved health, happiness and prosperity. However, when most of us think about our finances, most of the time we don’t have thoughts of prosperity. Instead, we tend to think about bills we have to pay, things we need to buy and whether or not we can afford them and if we can’t afford them, this starts a cycle of negative thinking. So much for healthy, happy and prosperous thoughts.
However, you can ensure that you maintain feelings of prosperity by following a few simple exercises. These exercises may be subtle and you may wonder how something so simple can have any real lasting effect. But remember, the idea here is to lead our subconscious into more prosperous thoughts and it only really takes a few subtle cues for this to happen. So, today I’d like to give you some exercises that can put you in a more prosperous mindset and hopefully keep you in that mindset.
Simple Abundance Exercises
1. Cash in Your Wallet: Of course, we all want to see more cash in our wallets but what can we do when we’re running low? To create the illusion that we have more cash than we actually have, one simple solution is to break large notes down into smaller notes. Your eyes and your sub-conscious will notice a stack of fives and tens more than it will notice a single fifty and will put a higher value on them. It sounds strange but I know that I always get a nice surprise when I notice a stack of notes, rather than one and I do feel richer, even if it’s just for a few moments. But this feeling is what really counts as this is what will ultimately draw in more cash.
2. Stock the Cupboards With Essentials: Are you the type of person who is always going to the fridge or cupboard and finding it nearly empty? And what does this do for your feelings of abundance? My guess is that on a sub-conscious level, the sight of empty cupboards induces a feeling of not having enough. To avoid this, I always make sure my cupboard is stocked with essentials so I always have milk in the fridge and bread on hand and my cupboards always at least have a few tins in them. Luckily I live with someone who is a real foodie and living in Istanbul means that we have a great local bazaar around the corner. But for everyone else, I recommend at least a couple of trips to a supermarket per week even if you don’t eat at home much, just to keep that feeling of abundance around you at all times.
3. Love Your Bills: I know it sounds weird but having a bill that needs to be paid can provide a real opportunity for positive self-talk about money. Next time you have to make a mortgage payment or pay a bill, think of it as making a contribution to your economy, that you are taking part in the great money circulation and that as a result of this, people will earn salaries, the government will recieve tax and services will be provided which will be for the betterment of life. And you were an integral part of this. Bless your bills as evidence that you live in a society that provides decent services to its citizens and where jobs are plentiful.
4. Choose what you buy carefully: I know that I feel really good when I’m well-dressed and wearing a nice expensive perfume. But, of course, we can’t always fill our wardrobes with items that make us feel this good all of the time. Solution? Always have some key pieces that you wear over and over again like a coat or a perfectly-fitting pair of jeans that make you feel great as soon as you slip them on. Having a few pieces that make you feel like a million dollars is better than a whole bunch of stuff that’s drab.
So these rules are simple enough, but when practised on a regular basis, they ensure that you maintain a sense of abundance most of the time and this is really what it’s all about.
