How To Hypnotise Yourself

How To Hypnotise Yourself

Today’s post ‘How To Hypnotise Yourself‘ actually comes from author, Geoff P. Dodd, who I came across in my travels recently. He has some great tips. Enjoy.

Psychological issues like lacking self confidence and motivation towards personal goals can be corrected very briskly when a person comes to realize the astonishingly creative power of their own thinking. Self hypnosis techniques can be used to train anyone into conscious and deliberate programming of their sub-conscious mind using optimal mantras and affirmations with a lot of repetition. History shows us that monks in religious orders have been using these direct psychological techniques for at least 2,500 years.

What, then, is the connection between modern day NLP or neuro-linguistic programming and the methods that were being used in the early Buddhist monasteries? The writer notes that monks persist with these identical ways and methods in modern times. The connection is profound. Here is a snippet from the author’s Facebook comments that quickly sheds light upon the empowering potential of human thought processes:

“Be aware that as you’re thinking you’re ‘programming’ your future. Stop. Select optimal affirmations. Re-design. Reflect. Review. Start a new ‘program’ every few minutes, like a rising phoenix..”

Clearly, the mind’s intention is to improve the thinking process. It calls for a new awareness that thinking is neural programming. It asks for discernment in the quality of human thought and suggests a constant refreshing of mental ‘program’ planning. It even appears on reading this quote that the sub-conscious mind has a life of its own, rather like a hidden agenda. Therein lies its powers of certainty and of emotionally driven motivation.

How To Hypnotise Yourself in 4  Stages

Hypnosis is a 4-stage process which involves:

1. The getting and holding of attention
2. The induction of a trance state similar to being half asleep
3. Suggesting images and ideas directly into the sub-conscious mind
4. Helping a client to believe that they can function better

While a hypnotherapist delivers a calming, one-way monologue to a client, a self-help approach involves the same words and affirmations in a rather more dynamic, flexible format like a dialogue with one’s self. This private, self-dialogue can be adjusted according to changing needs and conditions.

The writer maintains that the hypnotic script to boost confidence and motivation is identical in each case and that generalized, mind power enhancement is sufficient to overcome a wide set of problems ranging from anxiety and depression through to stopping smoking and other addictions, how to lose weight and how to be more focused and productive in the workplace.

The renowned psychologist Dr Abraham H Maslow PhD of Brandeis University taught us that therapeutic shifts and changes occur in a ‘holistic dynamic’ fashion. For example, a marked increase in self esteem will bring widely generalized improvements.

These changes are almost never limited to a narrow niche area in life. They create a ‘blossoming’ effect of the whole personality, as confidence and motivation are restored. So it is with enhancing an individual’s mind power, using high quality spiritualized self hypnosis.

Finally, here is a little sample:

“Listen to my words: Breath in, breath out Let go… Inhale, exhale, feel the emptiness… Inhale, exhale, feel the emptiness… Inhale, exhale, expand the emptiness… Let go.. Let go of all thoughts.. just emptiness let go of all worries.. pure emptiness All fears dissolve – gone! Letting go, relax Relax… deeper than before You ascend to a place of instant Love You love your breathing, love your self.. Totally relaxed – deeper than before..”
