Where Do Limiting Beliefs Come From ?

 ‘I can’t do it.’

‘I’m no good at that.’

‘Women hate me.’

‘I’ll never be a success.’

We’ve all heard things like this before, right? You’ve probably said one of these things or something like it before. You know you shouldn’t say these things but for some reason, you just seem to help yourself. The reason for this is that you have a limiting belief.

Most people are well aware that we all have internal programming, some of which works for us, some of which works against us. But where does it come from? Well, basically, you can blame the sub-conscious mind for that. The sub-conscious mind acts like a database of thoughts that when put on repeat, become part of our daily lives due to constant repitition.

Did you know that the subconscious mind can handle 40 million bits of data per second but the conscious mind can only handle 40 bits of data per second? Pretty amazing huh? That should give you an indication as to how powerful the sub-conscious is.

So, How Did the Limiting Beliefs Get In There?

Most of the programming that exists in your sub-conscious comes from when you are a child. Why? Because when you are a child, your mind operates on different waves. Everyone’s mind  can work on either alpha, delta, theta or beta waves, all of which have different functions to perform in our lives. Beta waves are the waves that adults use when we are performing ordinary tasks. They are the waves which your conscious mind is most fully in tune with.

When you are a child between the ages of 0 and 2, your brain engages in a lot of delta brainwave activity. Delta waves are the lowest frequency brainwaves and are usually only attainable by people in advanced stages of meditation or while sleeping. This basically means that, as a child, you soak up everything AND you do it without filters. People around you influence you heavily and things that you say and do, as well as other things you directly observe, forms your basic programming. It could be a minor event but it may influence you for life.

When you are a child between the ages of  2 and 6, you spend a lot of time in theta brain mode. In this mode, you use a lot of your creative imagination plus you are in a heightened state of learning when you keep a record of everything you see, hear and experience. These things stay filed away in your mind and you keep referring to them later in your adult life.

What this means is the five-year-old you is actually responsible for most of the decisions you make and thoughts and actions you repeat and you are not even aware that this is happening.

You Can Change A Limiting Belief

Your sub-conscious mind is like a CD player that keeps the same CD on repeat until you change it. It keeps playing it regardless of whether that music makes you feel good or bad, whether you like it or not or whether you chose to listen to it or not. It does this because this is the only CD it has been programmed to play.

The great thing about being an adult is that your conscious mind is more developed and this is a great tool which can be used for creating changes. When you were a child, your mind absorbed and stored everything without filtering out the bad bits and as you became older and your conscious mind developed, it shoved everything down into your sub-conscious mind so that you didn’t have to waste time thinking about them.

But by consciously making a decision to change things, this reprogramming can be done.

Going back over every detail is not useful. The best thing is to know what has been holding you back and focus on re-writing those programs. And with the right tools, this can be done a lot sooner than you think. Products like Mind Movies, subliminal messages and belief entrainment are great ways to replace a negative belief with a positive one quickly and easily and better still, they are all downloadable and relatively inexpensive compared to other methods of therapy.

Don’t let a five-year-old control your thoughts any longer.  Make today the day YOU take charge. Check out one of these great resources now.
